My first attempt at a Beyond the Veil deck. Played at a 4 player round-robin event. It took more brain power than I had available this evening to keep which totem was which straight! But I like the totems on the whole and will be tweaking this to play again.

In round 1 Scott's Desolation Row pretty much blasted me away before I got going. That happens whatever deck I play though! If I don't oppose the Desolation Row job he builds up a load of control points; if I do oppose the Desolation Row job I lose all my dudes.... We played both those out in quick succession leaving me with no influence and him with all the bounties.

In round 2 George's Morgan Stables built up their usual ton of influence on horses who came and shot me down again. I spread my totems too thinly across deeds and I couldn't get enough Red Horse's Tails in one place to get rid of his dudes. I always had to assume that George had an It's Not What You Know... in hand and his Nathan Shane kept stealing my own cheating cards! It might have helped if I'd remembered what the The Whateley Estate did and put my jokers back into my deck, or maybe not.

Round 3 was against Heidi's Oddities. I lost both my jokers in the first lowball hand - I even knew that was going to happen as Butch Deuces couldn't manage to save them. I did draw an early The Whateley Estate and managed to use it this time though! We picked off each others influence slowly and I was pleased to end up with a nice setup of Spirit Trails around the town with Smiling Frog sitting at home with a Buffalo Rifle, even if he was getting constantly Blood Cursed. Eventually I got rid of enough abominations to get control of my own deeds for long enough to win with only Danny Wilde left sitting at the Whateley Estate.

I think the final result was that Scott won all his games and the rest of us one apiece. Our next mini-tournament is going to be a multi-player event - advice on how to build a multiplayer deck is welcome!
