Lose to win with Hot Lead Flyin' and Pinned Down to pinpoint exactly who to get rid of first. Nunchucks on Xiaodan Li lets you lower the Hot Lead pull by two, Yunxu Jiang gives everyone in your posse +1 value as long as you have control of the location, and Forster Cooke sits at a saloon or casino granting another +1 to value, making the Hot Leaded pull potentially that much more lethal. No Turning Back lets you crash your hand without taking out your whole group, which then allows more Hot Lead action to wipe out the opposing posse. Pinto and The Stakes Just Rose keeps your high values/key dudes in the fight.

I've found that once the opponent catches on, they get real skittish, real fast. Kidnappin' gives you the power to start the fight on your terms, cherry-picking their key dudes apart.

I'm hoping to fit Nicodemus Whateley in for a solid win condition that pushes the opponent to move out and face me. With Spirit Fortress becoming more dominant of late, though, I'm not sure it's enough to lock a win.

The nice thing, is that decks like this now totally lose to a deck with slight modification. Really glad they made that card to foil this sort of thing. Mass totem tokens should also give a deck like this fits.

I'm Sorry? What is "slight modification" going to do that is back-breaking in this ?????

The nice thing, is that Hot Lead Flyin' is a react and cannot be cancelled by A Slight Modification.

With five shootout and non-cheatin' resolution options to cancel, the gadget player would have to be running Telepathy Helmet to figure out what would be the best use of Slight Mod, and with the Helmet being a 3 value, it isn't likely to see play in a deck running Slight Mod. I could be wrong. In my area at least, the Helmet just doesn't see play in gadget decks. Too low a value to be of use when you have so many stronger options at high values.

Perhaps you meant No Funny Stuff? Because I hate that card with the heated passion of a thousand supernovas. It will shut down this deck's strategy, but it will also most likely do the same to the deck of whoever plays it. They have to have total confidence that their deck will outdraw any other deck with no support whatsoever, and I don't know of any deck that can do that.

Mass totems, well, as I said in the description, Spirit Fortress will be a problem, but I think Spirit Fortress has a couple weaknesses. One, it needs the time to build up so turn one Kidnappin' is probably a necessary tactic. Two, totem decks usually have a loose draw structure early on, counting on playing totems to tighten the structure and generate winning draw hands in the late game. Again, turn one Kidnappin' is probably a necessary tactic. Three, they need their shamans to activate the totems, so if you can get rid of them with Pinned Down and Hot Lead, you can slow the progression to a crawl. Eventually they will have to fight you since most Spirit Fortresses will rely on Nicodemus or Chief Stephen Seven-Eagles to get enough control to win.

This deck is really light with control points, which is why I'm not sure adding Nic would give enough control to lock a win against Spirit Fortress. He will force a shootout on your terms against almost any other deck, though.

Slippery turtle decks and dudeslide are another issue, since the whole point of those decks are to either slip out of shootouts or flood the town with weenies that don't matter as much when they're lost as casualties. Classic clown control can make things awfully difficult.

Point is, there will always be counter strategies against any deck. No single card (other than No Funny Stuff) can cause a deck to totally lose every time that card is played. You can't build a deck that can beat every strategy out there, but you can build a deck designed to push to the win condition as quickly as possible. This deck is one approach to that end.
