Wanted to try out the new Wagner Memorial Ranch so thought I'd go for a Stables deck with Personal Ornithopter and Yagn's Mechanical Skeleton.
Chuan "Jen" Qí and Kyle Wagner invent gadgets while Max Baine (Exp.1) plays dudes. The possible straight flush is mostly a bonus on the 3 values (13x10s, 13xJs, 12xQs) but I wanted Backroom Deals due to the increase in Steven Wiles being played and Election Day Slaughter for the possible Slide matchup.
I only played 2 games due to getting a bye in the first round. 2nd Round I played Russell's Desolation Row deck which ran me very close. I didn't see any gadgets early to get the production on Wagner Memorial Ranch so was struggling for income. I managed to pick off Rico Rodegain for 3 bounty which allowed me to kickstart my economy and I eek'd out a win as time was called after his dudes all booted.
3rd Round I played against Dave Woof's The 108 Righteous Bandits slide. I had practised this matchup in my bye round and started Rico Rodegain instead of Max Baine (Exp.1) to save the income. I saw a lot of Yagn's early as well as Election Day Slaughter to keep my influence high and his low. The gadgets also got me some good income from Wagner Memorial Ranch and using Gomorra Parish to ace unneeded shootout actions I managed to eek out a win after Dave made a mistake running out of money and having influence with upkeep to California Tax Office which ultimately got me the win.
I don't think this is a top tier deck by any means. Feels reasonably strong but I got lucky in my slide matchup which I wouldn't normally expect to win and it's a bit of a slow starter so fast agression decks really should walk over over this. Still, sometimes the luck rides with you and you win a tournament.

Not really. The use of Morgan Stables was mostly because a) I wanted to try the outfit and b) the -1 cost to horses which in my 2nd game ultimately kept me in it because I could play a horse for free due to having no GR and use the home ability for the extra cycle. Guide Horse and Personal Ornithopter are not really the actions to use for the home ability. There are far better players of the Stables archetype than me who probably do more exciting things with it and use it far more effectively. |

Guide Horse is great for Stables chess allowing you to quickly reposition from anywhere by reacting into a movin' play. You can always move into the town square and react into a callin' out if the situation suits. |

I've found Irving and Personal Ornithopter to be a great little combo for getting some crucial card cycling in the middle of a shootout. |
Do you have any tricks to abuse double action from outfit?
