Flush 'Em Out

This deck won the 2015 Portland and Albany Sheriff events.

The Portland tournament had 11 players, with 4 rounds of Swiss and a cut to the top 2. I came in 2nd place in Swiss, going 3-1. I defeated 3 Law Dogs players while losing to the other undefeated player (running 4th Ring control) in the final round of Swiss. In the championship round, I played a rematch game against the 4th Ring control deck and won to take home the badge.

It's a tweak on the standard Super Mario deck, using Desolation Row and Fred Aims to make it more resilient in longer games. Desolation Row also provides another method of tempting opponents into shootouts before they're ready.

This deck is highly aggressive. To win, it relies on drawing opponents into early shootouts that will cripple them, then following-up with repeated use of the Desolation Row job + Fred Aims and Allie Hensman to secure influence, GR and control.

Mario Crane is the primary troublemaker, backed up by Jake Smiley (once Fred has influence) and Angelica Espinoza (who simultaneously covers Mario at a opponent's deed and a booted Allie in the town square). Even though the starting posse appears weak, when paired with the draw structure, high number of shootout actions and cheatin' hate, this deck wins most shootouts.

Great deck! I tested it and it worked quite well! I suggest the following changes:

-2x Back Ways / +2x Make the Smart Choice - send Fred on the job solo, run away if the opponent overcommits, let Mario call out booted enemies.

-2x Pinned Down / +2x Kidnappin' - depending on the meta, more ways to force callouts helps greatly vs. Clowns.

-2x Reserves / +2x This’ll Hurt in the Mornin’ - money isn't critical, but you want as much cheatin' punishment as possible. Plus, make them pay you for Steven Wiles.

-2x Tail Between Yer Legs / +2x Cheatin' Varmint - debatable, but if you can pay to reduce a legal full house or 4/5-of-a-kind, it's invaluable.

-2x Takin' Ya With Me / +2x It's Not What You Know... - same here, reducing a legal full house to a tie and making them take a casualty is very good, while Takin' is kinda hard to trigger off more than 0 bullets, as long as all goes well.

-2x Flight of the Lepus / -2x This is a Holdup! / +4x Meet The New Boss - accelerates the accumulation of control points, gives your dudes extra influence to contest deeds, helps to close the game faster.

Thanks for the suggestions! Funny enough, I've been working on a new version of this deck called "Take This Job and Flush It" and it's almost identical to the changes you proposed above.

It doesn't swap out Tail Between Yer Legs, and I'm still debating about including the King value for x3 Nightmare at Noon or Point Blank, but otherwise it's the same.

I may trim Jack and Queen to x3 Meet the New Boss and It's Not What You Know... This reduces my chances of a straight flush but perhaps the card utility is worth it?

You have some solid insight into the deck, what do you think about King value vs straight flush?

I think Nightmare at Noon will win you more shootouts than Straight Flush. But this decision should be based on testing both options, not by making logical conclusions.
