Updated version of my 4R control which took runner-up at Gen Con.

Tightened up the draw structure significantly and updated for Nightmare at Noon. Really only added in Lula's Exploit from that saddlebag.

This version plays much better in a mirror matchup, as 4x Shadow Walk give you enhanced mobility against the endless Paralysis Mark/Leon war.

With 16x 10s, and 16x Js, you have the ability to pull legal 4 of a kind a lot more in the later game, when all the jokers are aced. This puts you in a good place against most decks which will be on full house draws.

Avie Cline is still the most underrated card in the deck. Cheap 2 influence, harrowed, and a huckster if you badly need one. Every time I play her, she makes an impact on the game.

2nd California Tax office means you will be getting this card out most every game. With the ability 4R has to control the board, and influence, once you have this out, it really becomes the anti Steven Wiles. Twice during the Sheriff event, my opponent played Steven, I used the Tax Office to make they pay 6, then Paralysis Marked Steven, and first action next turn Tax Office'd him again.

Some fascinating choices in here. Thinking about how rarely I used Cheatin' resolutions at that event myself, I think you made the right call to skimp on them. Did you ever find yourself wishing you had It's Not What You Know...?

Also, noticing the absence of Jia Mein, what was your plan for dealing with a first-day Judge Bomb?

It's Not What You Know in my opinion is the best cheatin' card in the game. It is more consistent that This Will Hurt and Bottom Dealing, and can be used if your opponent is not cheatin'. However, it is on Q value, and I think the dudes there are far too expensive, and outside of General Store, the deeds are extremely lacking.

This Will Hurt in the Morning has one of the best benefits in that you use it during lowball. Especially if your opponent has spent their GR. You just aced Steven Wiles or other key dudes. I even use it when they have the GR to hurt their economy, and boost mine. 4R control is all about manipulating the board and only getting into fights when you have the advantages. I would like to play more cheatin' cards, but the threat of having them often holds your opponent back. Too many people have seen their 4-5 of a kind cheatin' turn into 3 of a kind to risk it. If they do pull it off against you and you don't have the card, then Hex Slingin' plus Arnold means you can easily pull back and be ready for next turn.

Judge rush is all about how you play against it. I will often either not defend the job, or defend with just the dude they targeted. If they ace that dude, then they can't trigger their jail. and I start with enough Influence dudes that by the time they can make them all wanted, I have back up dudes in place, or a Blood Curse out with a Hex Slingin' and Unprepared or two in my hand to counter it. Judge gives you control of the town, and if you win a lowball or two, Forget will set them so far back the game is pretty much over.

Personally I think Jia is a poor answer for Judge rush, they have so many ways to negate that ability. The Judge rush deck I have plays 18 ways to lower your opponent's bullets. That will shred Jia in a heartbeat, and now you just paid extra to start Jia and Jia is dead turn 1. As the 4R player, you are now in a terrible position.
