I've been an avid fan of using Horses since the beginning. I was overjoyed to see the new Morgan Stables outfit card, and A Slight Modification was the final piece of the puzzle that I needed to build a gadget deck. So this is my attempt at a gadget-horse deck using the new outfit!

The heart and soul of the deck is obviously the Mechanical Horse. Chuan "Jen" Qí is clearly the ideal candidate to ride them, but the idea of the deck is to make a ton of money, and use that money to fuel near endless movement with your horses.

I make my money utilizing a system of building deeds that are highly profitable for me, not so much for my opponent. Morgan Mining Company, Maza Gang Hideout, and the strikes all combine for LOTS of production, and ZERO control points, thus it's not very advantageous for your opponent to steal them! As a result, the deck does rely on taking over your opponent's deeds with your Mechanical Horses, but I do have plenty of deeds that worth control that I'll play towards the end of the game if I must.

Speaking of control points at the end of the game, Doris Powell is brilliant in this deck. Throw her a mechanical horse and she'll easily obtain all three control points, when everyone is most likely booted out.

Gadget wise, the heart and soul is the horse, and the back up is the Force Field. The idea was to use gadgets that can be activated any number of times, and even while booted, so that A Slight Modification doesn't screw me over. And of course, Force Field is just another great use of all my cash. Having the Scoop Hounds equipped just makes it even better.

It's more of a "chess deck" but can definitely hold its own in shootouts due to Force Field and a reasonable chance of drawing Full Houses, especially once you've played some of the deeds and gadgets.

How do you actually usilize the Morgan Stables' react ability? The discount doesn't seem to be worth it by itself, compared to the benefit of Morgan Gadgetorium.

My favorite use of it is to ride in with a horse and call a dude out (usually a turn before they're ready). It's also useful for making quick trades.. something I have to do a lot of as I only start with two scientists.

The react ability is not something I've necessarily built the deck around.. but it does come in handy. One time I had a Circle M Ranch adjacent to my home, and I rode in with a horse from town square, then as my second action played Steven Wiles. As if to dare them to call me out, while at the same time preventing them from using the ranch. Little surprise tactics like that.
