It's "Another Dumb Deck Idea!" from twoeyedjack.
After taking a good look at my Abominator: Reloaded deck, I was rather struck by how much rock would amass from turn to turn. Having 6 rock to start plus 3 income is huge, and parking the abominations in town square created this line of defense that most folks wanted to avoid.
But I got this dumb idea of combining the deedslide concept with these clowns to create an unholy AbomiSlide deck that could drop three deeds on day one.
As the saddlebags and pine boxes began to pile up, deeds were bound to become more affordable. Cheap control is plentiful right now and it's only going to get better as the game goes on. Karl Odett has four influence in town square to start. That's crazy good for a 4 cost dude with no upkeep. Four Pagliaccios out there provides crazy bullet-reducing power. With all of these as your starting gang, the opponent is lead to believe the deck is something other than what it is.
Running 10s and Qs works well for pulling four of a kind, but you don't want to run shootouts if possible. You shouldn't be worried about losing a dude or two in a shootout, since they'll more than likely keep popping back up through Horace Manse, Ivor Hawley (Exp.1), and Soul Cage. This is the part of an Oddities Abomination deck that the opponent expects to see and plays against.
But that isn't your strategy when playing this deck. Sure, put out a Jael's Guile and a Cage when you have the time and the dudes in the right place, but number one is flopping down deeds. Empty your hand to refill with deeds. Buried Treasure for more rock and another deed. Slide them deeds all over.
Day two should see five or six control points on your side of the square, and your opponent having to boot across the street to stop from losing.
Let them. Empty your hand, do one shootout but never the "all in", go-for-the-win type of shootout. Lead your opponent along a bit that they might just pull it off.
Then refill your hand and flop down the deeds that shut them down quite soundly.
The deck is very loose structure and can win lowball pretty reliably to start. Then the other values begin to strip out and the 10s and Qs become more dominant. No Turning Back allows a Pagliaccio to be aced for no casualties, but sets up the other Pagliaccio to be a 3-stud menace. For one shootout, it works fine. Two rounds, tops. I wouldn't trust the draw structure into a third round.
If they cheat, your Soul Cage brings in another abom. Or maybe you begin hammering them away with the Guile. Losing aboms is no big deal, since they'll be back soon.
It's the control points that stack up quickly along with emptying your play hand that matters. While your opponent is worried about all the clowns that keep coming back, they tend to lose focus on how many control points are popping up behind them.
This deck is such a dumb idea, I'm ashamed. There are plenty of strategies out there that can handle abominations. There are plenty of strategies that handle deedslide. I don't know if there is one that can handle both.
Weaknesses: Zero-influence dudes can't do a whole lot to contest someone squatting on your deeds. Having to move the Pagliaccios out of the square tanks your influence quickly. Whenever moving them, they should be moved with the expectation of sacrificing them in a shootout so you can bring them back into play quickly. The other dudes in the deck are fairly expensive, too. With so much deed support, though, earning enough rock to play them shouldn't take too long. Turn one Ivor Hawley (Exp.1) for four rock? That's pretty good if you ask me. I would only do that if I had no other deeds in hand to play. Draw structure will poop out on you pretty fast in the early game.
I'm sure there will be more abominations coming in the future, just as there will be more cheap control points coming soon. Seeing this tells me that Morgan Cattle Co isn't the only deedslide game in town, and 108 Righteous Bandits aren't the only dudeslide. I'm not claiming that this deck does it better than those two factions. Rather I am saying that they no longer own the roost on those strategies, and if they aren't careful the clowns will buy out the town before they know it.
