It's "Another Dumb Deck Idea!" from twoeyedjack!

Miracles are a major complaint from us Law Dog lovers. Their values versus their difficulty coupled with no well priced Blessed with skill ratings worth playing causes us no end of fits and rants.

Well, I decided to try and tackle that, using miracles that I have wanted to use since they came out.

Okay, so Righteous Fury isn't here, nor is Fiery Rhetoric... or Onward Christian Soldiers... okay, so this isn't all the miracles I want to use but it was the best I could come up with given the approach I took.

I kept looking at Fourth Ring's common Hex strategies and builds and wondered could I build a Miracle version that used similar values. The common idea behind the Fourth Ring Hex decks seems to be in the clubs, particularly using Hex Slingin' at Jack. That card wins shootouts for hex decks.

Jack value isn't that great for miracles, so the next best option is Magical Distraction. I love this card more than Hex Slingin', but acknowledge that Hex Slingin' has more functionality, given it is a straight Resolution action while Magical Distraction is a Cheatin' Resolution action. But in a spell build, where values typically run into the face cards, I try to work Magical Distraction in as an off value when possible. In this case, however, Consecration works on value.

Of course, they're both Cheatin' Resolutions. Only one per hand. Ideally, you'll use Consecration during lowball, and have Magical Distraction for the shootouts.

Dumbstruck and Soothe are great together. Unbooting dudes opens up options. Walk the Path enables some fun movement in and out of shootouts.

Problems are a bunch of Blessed with 0 skill ratings. If you've been following my dumb deck ideas, you should already know my feelings on Law Dogs Blessed being unable to make Miracles work due to bad value to difficulty, and having dudes with zero skill ratings does not help this at all. The pulls work with Rev. Perry Inbody and Félix Amador, and Sister Mary Gideon can get by with only three 8 values, but all the other Blessed will have problems with Soothe some of the time.

So what's the win condition here? Damned if I know. Hex decks are largely control decks, designed to lock down the board state for the opponent. Miracles isn't really about controlling the board, though. Best I could come up with is Epidemic Laboratory and Nicodemus Whateley to reliably generate control points and bring the opponent in to face you in a shootout. The Union Casino is there too, but the cost isn't as efficient. Ultimately the opponent will need to come over to the Lab or call out Nicodemus to stop your control point generation. That's the best I could come up with. If Fiery Rhetoric were better value it would give this deck a mean edge with three reliable avenues to amassing control points.

There is a small amount of control in this deck via Unprepared. Eventually you end up unbooting quite a few of your dudes, and their dudes get stuck booted after the shootout. It's a quirky approach, and one that would be enhanced with bounties and Too Much Attention. Booting their wanted dudes, leaving a shootout after the first round with their dudes booted, and then unbooting all your dudes leaves them wide open to do as you please. It's a shame that Confession won't work in this deck since it's value is too low.

Hopefully Miracles will see some better options this time next year. The new keyword Hymn has shown promise effect-wise. If they could just fix that difficulty/value problem...

A Law Dog Blessed deck that can succeed pulls and support a win strategy? It's A Miracle! "Another Dumb Deck Idea" from twoeyedjack. Have fun!

Nice idea :D I tried the same before dumbstruck existed and ran into the same problems you mentioned with blesseds having (had) no influence and soothe being very hard to cast. I tried it as a control deck with Wendy booting people home while running jobs/controlling the townsquare, then getting unbooted and "Meet[ing] the new boss" or "Election day slaughter" again. Had it within Arsenal to hunt people down, but that was rarely useful. "Too much attention" sounds like a very nice idea out of Law dogs, maybe i should try this again :D Also the deed you can run jobs against with your skilled dudes.

I still feel "Lay on hands" provided ample value to safe Wendy or dudes with Influence, before i got scared about failing pulls and removed it.

More jank: If you go 10+ values only, you could "For such a time as this" Doris Powell and let her walk every path ...
