Rafi Hamid has been hidin' in the box for a long time, but now his hour of glory has finally come!

Frontier Justice has brought us some support for the Government/Deputies theme, so now there's enough synergy for it to be viable.

You start with four deputies, each one can be buffed with Faster on the Draw and brought into a shootout at any Government deed by Rafi's ability.

You start with one Government deeds already in play - Gomorra Jail. There are two more in the deck, and you can often see Hustings or Tax Office on the other side of the board. Legal Instruments will turn any deed into a bastion of justice and a foothold for your army of deputies, while also fixing the issue of low starting influence.

But how are you going to force the opponent into a shootout at a Government deed? By playing Rope and Ride of course! The basic plan is: you go into the town square, they go into the town square, you call them out, they accept, you take out your lariat, catch 'em and drag 'em to Jail, where all your deputies join the fun (unbooted!), while all the victim's friends are too far away to help! And since the target is now isolated, Coachwhip is the best way to get rid of them.

Bounty Hunter comboes very nicely with Rope and Ride as well, letting you not only attack dudes in their homes, but drag them out and into the town sqaure, where the rest of your squad is waiting - especially useful if there are some strong enemy shooters booted at home, resting after a Job.

Winchester is there to turn Andrew and Rafi into 4-studs, while Roan ensures they can join the fight unbooted, and it also helps with Rope and Ride!

Possible changes depending on your meta include replacing Andrew Burton with Jake Smiley, and adding a couple Unprepared off-value to help deal with those pesky Clowns and Shotguns.

Credit for the deck idea goes to Hammardal, who recently won a tournament with his 4+5+6 build that features more off-value Government deeds and no Rope and Ride. The latter card I added to prove Otomo wrong after reading his set review of Frontier Justice, and I've been enjoying this deck since. Hope you will too! :)

Very nice. I love to see people putting the new cards to such good use.

Looks very similar to what I was building for Law Dogs with Frontier Justice, great minds think alike and all that. My only question is would you really rather have 2 Roan than 2 more copies of Winchester? Winchester seems so good, it makes your deputies studs even when you don't have a Faster on the Draw in hand and buffs their bullets even higher.

@tbowers13I actually added Roan to support Winchester. I only have four dudes and I need to spread them across town to deny income to my opponent, so he'll try to initiate a shootout in the most inconvenient location, and I'll have to boot my dudes to join, so they will no longer be able to use their rifles. That's what my testing has shown, and I found horses to be quite useful, whey provide extra mobility that is otherwise lacking in this deck.

Great deck! I took this (completely unchanged, and previously untried) to a 12-person tournament yesterday and managed to come third with it. Getting a bounty on the opponent's key non-shooting dude immediately and then Bounty Hunter with a Rope and Ride is a devastating start.

Only difficulty I had was against that darned Shotgun, especially when attached to Angélica Espinosa... my one loss of the day. And even that deck, although I lost the actual tournament game to it, I beat in a friendly rematch (very narrowly!)

Thanks for the deck!

@aealbeemostly I just copy what I see on Octgn played by swider, mysticpickle, spyke, and hammardal ;)

Question: if you use Rope and Ride to move a shoutout to a private deed you own, like Gomorra Jail will the opponent get a bounty since the shootout is at the private deed, or no since it originated elsewhere?

Jun 15, 2015 mplain

@Pintyhetaccording to this ruling, "the key to gaining bounty is the location of the shootout, not the location of the callout".

Wow, that would really make Rope and Ride incredible effective at establishing wanted dudes for purposes of increasing control through Gomorra Jail or using Judge Harry Somerset job ability, or even using Bounty Hunter to clean up any remaining wanted dudes.

With the latest pack, this feels like it could really benefit from Judge Harry Somerset (Exp.1) - on value in your deck and a repeatable free Bounty Hounter on the board. Only problem is the cost, and working out what to cut!

this deck got me a playmat at my local games night tournament (2nd place), thanks bro. Bounty Hunter / Rope & Ride is a great combo to pick off key opposing dudes.

Any changes you would make to this deck using the new Nightmare at Noon expansion? :D

Aug 06, 2015 mplain

@Crooked Wookiefrom NTB and N@N, Judge XP and Flint's are auto-includes, and you could also try John "Aces" Radcliffe and Lula's Exploit. Also Cookin' Up Trouble might be worth a couple slots, needs testing.

Aug 06, 2015 Crooked Wookie

@mplainAre you considering doing a revised version of this deck, testing out some of those changes? Or could you suggest what you'd swap out for some of the cards you mentioned? I love this deck and also thought a few of those cards might be valuable additions.

Aug 06, 2015 mplain

@Crooked Wookieok then, try this:

-1x Baird's Build and Loan (it's in here by mistake, I thought it was a Government deed)

-1x Stagecoach Office

-1x Steven Wiles

-1x The Brute

-2x Coachwhip!

+1x Hustings

+1x Flint's Amusements

+1x Judge Harry Somerset (Exp.1)

+1x John "Aces" Radcliffe

+2x Cookin' Up Trouble

I'm not super clear on why Valeria Batten is in the deck. Can someone explain?

Aug 07, 2015 tbowers13

Valeria is a relatively inexpensive stud who is on value at 4.

Aug 07, 2015 Crooked Wookie

Also, and correct me if I'm wrong, he has Bobo in there as a cheap 6 Spade who is also a stud, and Valeria gives him a bullet bonus if she winds up out on the table, making him another decent threat for a shootout.

Aug 07, 2015 mplain

There aren't many options at 4♠. Although Bobo deserves a couple slots in any deck built around 6's.

Aug 07, 2015 Pintyhet

Unfortunate for Law Dogs there is only a single 4 and 6 value dude, neither of which are deputies.

It seems like Abram Grothe (Exp.2) really ought to be in here now. With his expense and value, I'm not sure who to dump for him though. Maybe Xiong "Wendy" Cheng?

Feb 05, 2016 Markus Valadir

@mplain How come you want you want 2 cooking up trouble instead of the coachwhip? Dont you think it might lack anti cheat or is that countered by the chance of removing important cards?

Feb 05, 2016 mplain

@Markus Valadir you still have 2x Coachwhip!, 3x Quickdraw Handgun, and Tommy Harden - not like you're lacking cheatin' punishment.

Anyway, I wrote that half a year ago, just wanted to test the new cards.
