Back when I was just had core sets I enjoyed playing the Morgan horse chess game - Got my Mustangs, ran from fights, ran dudes down just to boot them.

Here I wanted to try building a deck that similarly ran away from fights and booted opposing dudes, but with ALL the Horse action cards.

It's a bit messy because of Rope and Ride - a neat card for repositioning opposing dudes but also one that requires initiating a shootout. The 2x Personal Ornithopter are there to let your dudes escape after roping and riding, but the only way to build Ornithopters is Technological Exhibition.

Swinford Finds Trouble synergizes with Rope and Ride as well as Run 'Em Down, as both boot an opposing dude before the shootout begins. Unfortunately the most bullets a dude in this deck will have is 2.

Win conditions are deed control, Doris Powell, and Technological Exhibition. Loss condition is getting forced into a shootout without escapes (this deck lacks bullets).

Dudes are horse synergy + Max Baine (Exp.1) synergy. Ditching the Max Baine (Exp.1) synergy plan would open up space for more actions (Make the Smart Choice) or different dudes.

No Buckin' Billy Ballard or "Dead" Billy Jones? Both are great dudes for Horse control.

Good points! Those two would improve the deck - I'd start one of them instead of Max Baine (Exp. 1).

Building off @DoomDog's comment, I can suggest the following starting posse:

Diego Linares, Maggie Harris, Irving Patterson, Buckin' Billy Ballard, and Henry Moran.

This gives you 4/5 Influence to start, a scientist with pretty good odds to build your Personal Ornithopter without having to rely on Technological Exhibition (in case you don't draw it), and a reliable way to fetch horses from the discard pile.

All for the same cost/upkeep of your starters listed here.

Cheers!

I like this change. That's a good starting posse. And the stud of Buckin' Billy would help to draw a straight flush in a pinch..

Running away from fights with personal ornithopter is fun, and I'd like to adjust this deck to better support that "aggressive" chess play - so I'm thinking of going up to 4x Personal Ornithopter and replacing some Swinford Finds Troube with We Got a Beef! This way I can swap a dude with an Ornithopter into the fight. I just wish I had a meaner shootout play, so I can punish opponents more before escaping with the Ornithopter.

I'm not quite sure what the Town Council (and to a lesser extent The Mayor's Office) are for - The Highbinder Hotel would give you a backup eject button if your Ornithopter is out of commission.

Town Council and Mayor's Office (government keyword) are in for Max Baine (Exp. 1) synergy. Removing Max Baine opens up more space for interesting deeds. Highbinder and Shane & Graves are good shootout play deeds for this deck!
