How does this deck work? The Law Dogs have several strong shootout-focused dudes, but to get the most out of them they need to be fighting against Wanted dudes (dudes with bounty). Rather than rush out to fight straight away, start by using the Law Dogs home ability to place bounties on opposing dudes. Choosing your opponent's best shooter as your first target is a good move, because then you can use Hattie DeLorre to reduce their bullets when a shootout breaks out. That target is also likely to join any posse that defends against any aggression on your part, which allows you to use "Thunder Boy" Nabbe's ability to make him a mighty three stud. Use those abilities and action cards like Sun in Yer Eyes and Faster on the Draw to pressure your opponent in shootouts, making them more likely to have to rely on a cheatin' hand to achieve a good shootout rank, which will activate Tommy Harden's trait which should give you enough of a rank boost to come out of the fight as the winner. If your opponent has a habit of throwing down cheatin' five-of-a-kinds, bring a Quickdraw Handgun to the shootout to ruin their day. Your endgame is to aggressively hunt down opposing Wanted dudes with the help of Bounty Hunter, Judge Harry Somerset and Bass Reeves. |

How is Rob Wilby a starting dude? He's neither part of the faction nor a Grifter... |

Rob Wilby is a Drifter (Neutral character). Drifters can be part of any starting gang. |

I'm new to the game. Why is Bobo in the deck? He's not a law dog and his upkeep is expensive 3 ghost rock plus another one from his influence as he's off faction? |

Bobo is in the deck, because this list is trying to limit deckbuilding to just 1 core box and Bobo happens to be a 6 of Spades which is part of the draw structure for this deck (note there are about 11 cards on 6 value). You can include other faction dudes in your deck, you just cannot include such characters in your starting posse. Also you are not meant to keep Bobo in play round after round, consider him to be a 1 ghost rock cost silver bullet dude with 1 influence that you can play quickly to help bolster your posse for a round of fighting or just as a surprise dude to help take control of a location. Essentially its a filler dude on value with cards the deck wants to draw when in a shootout. It also serves a utility purpose for the round he's played. On your following upkeep you just do not pay his upkeep and it gets discarded from play. |
PBE Team Note: Replace Dead Dog Tavern with Clanton Ranch This allows (with 6 extra Jokers) all 6 Starter Decks to be build out of 1 core box of Doomtown: Weird West Edition.
