I piloted this deck into the finals of the Pinkerton Outlaw Event in Kansas City, taking top seed after going 4-0 in swiss, winning the first round of top 4 play 2-0 (the second game by the skin of my teeth), and then lost in the finals 0-2 to an Eagle Wardens deck that I am quite certain I only beat in swiss through mad luck.

I built this deck to try and take as much advantage of Turtle's Guard as I could, the base idea is to cheat big hands with Barton Everest and Devil's Jokers and use Turtle's Guard to shrug off any cheatin' res effects, eventually winning through a game of attrition in which my harrowed dudes never died in the first place.

My plan was to show the normal pre-Rico starting dudes, but apparently the publish button doesn't take the grifter discount into effect, so I will just tell you that the other 3 dudes are Fred Aims, Jonah Essex, and Makaio Kaleo, Esq.. The base dudes that I plan to Rico into are Jake Smiley, Barton Everest, and "Professor" Duncan.

The grifting strategy is to use Travis to try and find Turtle's Guard or one the shamans before using Rico. If you have a shaman in your hand, you can switch out Duncan for either Allie or Makaio depending what you feel you will need more, the influence of the control. If you see neither your spell or a shaman, then the choice becomes a little harder. Both times it happened to me in the tournament, I had Killer Bunnies Casino and another deed in my hand, so I went with Makaio instead of Duncan and aggressively discarded cards to try and find a shaman.

Against slide, the plan is to stick with Makaio and Fred, add Jake to the mix for maximum influence, try and get control with Allie and/or Epidemic Laboratory, and protect your influence and control from The Evidence or shotguns by keeping a mugging handy.

The cards that I am weakest to are Coachwhip! and Jael's Guile because they go straight at my dudes, and if my opponent can stack send home actions like Pistol Whip and Mariel Lewis together.

Nice! Turtle's Guard is amazing and with "Professor" Duncan now doing the rounds every faction can potentially benefit from it.

Losing in the finals to you was some of the most fun I had all day. I love this deck lineup and you pilot it like a champion.

One of the best brandnew decks here for months. Really enkoy it. Nice job.

@Pintyhet That second game was probably my favorite game of the day as well. You had me on the ropes for the majority of the game, stuck back in my home after I hadn't seen a shaman or Turtle's Guard in either starting hands, but I think what saved the game for me was finding Mugging twice, especially the first one that I used to ace that Jael's Guile.

@Baron_Fel I honestly didn't see Takin' Ya With Me coming when you played it after I finally won a shootout using This'll Hurt in the Mornin'.
