First build for Eagle Wardens. Need advice about what to change with the deck to improve it.
This is a pretty solid first draft. Eagle Wardens Spirits is a tried and true strategy that honestly hasn't changed much since Immovable Object, Unstoppable Force came out. Once you have access to more of the card pool you can start upgrading some of the spells and deeds.
I would recommend cutting as many cards as you can that fail your spell pulls, and adding in more neutral influence dudes. You should also definitely cut Max Baine, he is going to cost you 7 upkeep and that just is not worth it.
Keeping in mind that you probably want this deck and the Law Dogs deck built at the same time, suggested cuts and adds:
-1 Max Baine, -1 Gomorra Parish, -1 1st Baptist Church, -1 Idol of Tlazolteotl, -1 Clear Out!, -2 Good Stiff Drink, -1 A Secret Tunnel
+1 Black Elk, +1 Many Speak as One, +1 Clint Ramsey, +1 Eve Henry, +1 Railroad Station, +2 Magical Distraction, +1 Missed!, +1 Joker (black)
You can’t go wrong with those spirits!
I’l advise you to try and strengthen your draw structure by filling out the 10s and Qs. Depending on what cards you have available that’s easier said than done.
You’ll also want to include some sort of cheating punishment. Maybe change A Coach Comes to Town and the low value cards so you also fail less pulls.
But the best advice is to play it and see what actions you smile at when drawn and which you’d hope was something else ;)
Looks solid to me, seconding the advice above on adding Cheatin' punishment - It's Not What You Know... is great if you have it, if not Magical Distraction or The Winning Agenda could work?
Lots of good specific card recommendations in the other posts too.
Could it be worth starting Mariel Lewis instead of Jackson Trouble? Only one more GR for extra influence and a great ability. Could then maybe shift out Butch Deuces for Henry Moran/Willa Mae MacGowan or Jake Smiley to still have the same (or higher!) starting ghost rock, as you already have two starting shaman dudes. Even squeezing in another starting dude can work well so that you get to five starters, which give you more ablative casualties and more pieces to use in movement chess matches.
Looks like a very solid start to me. :)
So before I play tested this deck last night I made the suggested changes by @RNash. I am very glad I did.
This deck performed way better than I was expecting. We did a 4 player game and the other decks were Slone, Law Dogs, and The 108 Righteous Bandits.
Was able to have the lead for most of third round and narrowly lost by 1 control point.
Are you sure you want to delete this decklist?
